Re: Battle for the Island: Infinity- Rules

OBJECT OF THE GAME:

Welcome, foolish mortals, to the Island. My name is Time, and my hours grow short, so pay attention to the rules of this little game so that I shall not have to waste my time answering your useless questions. The Object of the Game in this case, is Survival. If you are a Lostie, your goal is to kill all Others. If you are an Other, your goal is to kill enough Losties, such that you outnumber them. In order to kill a player, there are rules that must be followed. We can’t just have you go all willy-nilly on each other with a couple machetes, now can we? Where would be the fun, the sport, in that? So read on, and read well, for I don’t take kindly to misinformed players. No, not at all.

LOSTIES AND OTHERS:

You will be divided in to two groups. The Losties will not know the identity of anyone. The Others will recognize each other in a secret forum only they can see, and therefore will also know who all the Losties are. There will be more Losties than Others at the start of the game, although the true ratio is unknown to all but the Others. PLEASE NOTE that the allegiances of characters do not necessarily line up with their role on the show. Jack could very well be an Other, and Ben a Lostie, but not necessarily. Roles are randomly decided prior to the start of the game.

Re: Battle for the Island: Infinity- Rules

SPECIAL ROLES:

Some Losties will have special roles in order to help them figure out who the Others are. These people will be informed before the start of the game what they are, and are advised to not share their secret role, as it will make them a target. However, that choice is up to them.

The Doctor will be able to save one player every game day in order to help their cause. They may also save themselves, but only twice per game. To use this power, please send me a message in private.

The Cop will be able to ask the identity of one player every game day. This will tell the Cop whether that player is a Lostie or Other, and whether or not they have a special role. To use this power, please send me a message in private.

The Vigilante may singlehandedly take justice in to their own hands and kill a player of their choice every other game day, starting on the 2nd day. To use this power, please send me a message in private. They are limited to 3 kills per game.

There will be no special roles for the Others in this round.

EVENTS AND CAMPS

When you land on the island, you will be divided in to separate camps in which only members of your camp can post. There will also be a main Island Day thread, which will be open to all. Each of these threads will have an event occurring in it that you may participate in. Taking part in events can help or hinder you depending on the nature of the event. Some will reward you with items and prizes, while others will injure you or harm you in the next event in some way. Each event will be explained in the first post of the thread for that day. Once a day ends and a new day begins, that event will be over and a new one will start.

ITEMS

During your time on the island, items will be very important to your survival. There are three main categories of items in the game. Common, Rare, and Ultra Rare (URI’s). All of these items will have their uses in the game in their own special way.

Common Items don’t do anything special right away, but some events will require you to use these items to win, so don’t treat them as worthless. We also encourage you to use these items in your daily posts and role-playing. Sometimes, you can even combine items to make a new item. Always post combinations in the following format:

MOD_COMBINE Kate combines her Shirt and Finger Paints to make a snazzy outfit

When the mod sees this post, they will use a random test to see if you succeeded or failed. Success may result in you just getting a new common item, or a rare item. Failure could result in nothing happening or one or more items being lost. A completed combine will look like this:

MOD_COMBINE_COMPLETE Kate now has a snazzy outfit.
Or
MOD_COMBINE_FAIL Kate goes to paint her shirt but spills it all over the sand, losing her finger paints but making a really trippy sand mural!

Some items may have a set that when combined make a super awesome URI or rare item. See if you can figure them out!

You may also trade items once per day unless an event specifies otherwise. To trade, post in purple:

MOD_TRADE I Trade blah blah for Sawyer's yadda yadda

Both Parties must have agreed to the trade before a moderator will complete it. We will have an island trading market, but please post all trades on the island thread. Thank you!

Re: Battle for the Island: Infinity- Rules

RARE ITEMS

There will be three types of rare items in this round of BFTI. These are weapons, food, and medical items. Weapons allow you to injure someone else on the island, which will keep them from voting in the lynch. Medical items will instantly heal any injury, no matter how severe, unless the injury is otherwise stated to be permanent for a certain time period. Food items will allow healthy players an extra vote in any lynches. Injured players may not use food items to vote until they are healed with a medical item. Multiple food items may be used to vote as many times as the player wishes.

Rare items will be marked in your inventory with a letter, w, m, or f, to represent it’s capabilities. All rare items are consumable, meaning once they are used, they are gone forever.

To use a rare weapon or medical item, post in the main island thread in the appropriate color, as such:

MOD_INJURE Sayid injures Sawyer with toothpick torture device (W)

MOD_HEAL Sawyer heald himself with band-aid (M)

To use a rare food item, post in the voting thread once it’s been opened for the current day’s lynch:

MOD_FOOD Sayid eats his Snickers bar (F)

Followed by casting your two votes either for the same person or two different people (or more, depending on how many food items you used).

When acknowledged, all of these tags will be replaced with MOD_ITEM_COMPLETE, and the appropriate changes to your inventory will be made.

ULTRA RARE ITEMS

Very rarely, usually due to an event of some great magnitude, a person may come upon an Ultra Rare Item. These items each have their own special effect and can be used once, unless otherwise specified. When a URI is revealed, this information will be updated with it’s specific usage and ability.

NIGHT KILLS

Nights on the island can be very dangerous. This is when the Others will strike at the Losties, after voting in their secret thread for a killer and a victim. One of you will die, little Losties, but fear not. Spread throughout the night kill, which will be a locked thread no one can reply to, will be clues to help you figure out who the nasty other is that killed your friend. Then you can try to work through the clues as a team in the next day thread and solve the murder, allowing you to take your revenge in the lynch.

Re: Battle for the Island: Infinity- Rules

LYNCH KILLS and CSI’s/Clues

The lynch will be conducted at the end of each Day thread. The Losties will have a 12 hour window to vote once voting begins. If a player is unable to make it to the vote, their vote does not count.

There will be no CSI clues this round. This does NOT mean you can not start a CSI thread each day to help you solve the clue, only that the grading of CSI’s has been remarkably broad and the subject of much criticism in past rounds. Therefore, in order for you to get a clue, each Day Event on the island thread will have a separate sub-event. Depending on the number of players who complete this sub-event, you will get an extra clue to help you with the kill. This clue could lead to the killer, or eliminate a suspect. You will be told one way or the other what type of clue it is.

Re: Battle for the Island: Infinity- Rules

ENDGAME

The game will end in two ways. Either the Losties eliminate all Others, or the Others outnumber the Losties, therefore making it impossible for the Losties to eliminate the others via the lynch. There may come a time if the game is slowing down due to real life getting in the way, that we will be forced to intervene and throw some sort of special event to end the game. If this is the case, the special rules for this end game will be presented in the main island thread, and will be guaranteed to give an equal shot of victory to both parties.

CHEATING/PM RULES

If at some point in the game you would like to Private Message someone, please do so. Beware, unless you are an Other, you don’t know the role of the person you are messaging, so be careful what you say. Also, we encourage you only do this if totally necessary, as most chatting should be done in the open to keep the game moving and interesting.

Also, cheating and abuse in any form is not permitted. This includes but is not limited to: Using someone else’s account, with or without their permission, making personal attacks against another player that are not part of the game, or sending inappropriate messages through PM/trying to guess who people are before the game is over. We want everything on the board to be above board, so please try to stay in character when you’re here. There will be an after party where we can all take off our masks and reveal who we are, but until then, if you need to say something very important in a post, please use a ((OOC: )) tag to mark it. There are many more ways to cheat, as you tricksters have shown in the past. Use your better judgment. If we find something we don’t like, there will be repercussions.

Finally, a little language is fine, violence is encouraged, and if you’ve always wanted to marry Sawyer (who hasn’t, amirite?) go for it. But leave the first night of the honeymoon off the board and out of the PM’s.

Also, have fun, or as much fun as you can, while dying.
